What Is Traditional Thai Massage?
Traditional Thai massage, known in Thailand as Nuad Thai, is a hands-on therapy that combines rhythmic acupressure with assisted, yoga-like stretching. It is performed without oil, and you stay fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing throughout.
Its principles come from traditional Thai medicine, which describes a network of energy lines, called sen, running through the body. Your therapist works along these lines with their palms, thumbs, forearms, knees and feet, then guides your body into stretches you could not reach on your own.
In 2019, UNESCO inscribed Nuad Thai on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognising it as a living part of Thai healthcare. Wat Pho temple in Bangkok is widely regarded as the home of this tradition. Its Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School, founded in 1955, is where our founder trained.

Techniques Your Therapist Uses
- Palm and thumb pressure applied along the sen lines to release tension point by point
- Rhythmic compression of large muscle groups in the legs, back and shoulders
- Assisted stretching that gently opens the hips, hamstrings, spine and shoulders
- Gentle joint mobilisation that moves your limbs through a comfortable range of motion
- Changes of position, with work done while you lie on your back, side and front, and often while seated
Why Guests Choose Our Home Thai Massage Service
Trained in the Wat Pho Tradition
Our therapists are trained at Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School and its affiliated Chetawan schools in Thailand. That training follows the structured Wat Pho sequence, so your massage is built on the traditional method rather than a loose imitation of it.
DHA-Licensed Therapists
Every therapist holds a Dubai Health Authority (DHA) professional licence, and we operate under a Dubai mainland trade licence issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). You can view each therapist’s credentials on our Therapists page before you book.
24/7, Usually There in 30 to 45 Minutes
Stiff shoulders do not keep office hours. Book an early-morning session before work, a midday reset, or a late-night massage after a long shift or a late arrival in Dubai.
One Price, No Travel Fees
The price you see is the price you pay, including VAT and travel, anywhere in Dubai and at any hour.
Fresh Linens and Spa-Level Hygiene
Every booking gets freshly cleaned towels and linens, and the table and mat are cleaned between guests. Our therapists are punctual, discreet, and focused entirely on your treatment, because a massage only works when you feel comfortable enough to switch off.
A Consultation Before Every Session
Before your massage starts, your therapist asks about your preferred pressure, the areas that feel tight, and any injuries or health conditions. The session is then adapted to you, and you can ask for lighter or firmer pressure at any point.
Benefits of Traditional Thai Massage
People book this massage for different reasons. These are the most common, along with what research says about them.
Relief From Muscle Tension and Pain
It is a popular choice for tight backs, necks, and shoulders. A 2015 systematic review of clinical trials, published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice, found that traditional Thai massage consistently reduced pain intensity in people with chronic pain. The benefits lasted at least several weeks. The number of trials was small, so the evidence is promising rather than conclusive.
Better Flexibility and Mobility
Because your therapist moves your body through assisted stretches, this style suits people who feel stiff and want to move more freely. It is especially useful if you find it hard to stretch effectively on your own.
Stress Relief and Deep Relaxation
The slow, rhythmic pressure helps many guests switch off completely, and at home there is no drive afterwards to undo it. Small clinical studies have also reported lower stress markers after a session.
A Relaxed but Energised Feeling
Oil-based massages can leave you drowsy. Many guests describe the after-effect of Nuad Thai differently: relaxed, but lighter and more energised, which makes it a good choice before a busy day.
Massage is a wellness therapy, not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have pain that is severe, persistent, or unexplained, please see a doctor first.
Is Thai Massage Right for You?
A Great Fit If You
- Spend long hours at a desk and feel it in your neck, shoulders, or lower back
- Train at the gym, run or play sport and want to loosen tight hips and hamstrings
- Are staying in a Dubai hotel and feel stiff after a long-haul flight
- Would rather not drive to a spa and back, or cannot easily leave home
- Prefer a massage without oil
- Are new to this style; you do not need to be flexible, as your therapist works within your range
Speak to Your Doctor First If You
- Are pregnant
- Have had recent surgery, a fracture or a significant injury
- Have osteoporosis, a spinal disc problem or a joint replacement
- Have a heart condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure or a history of blood clots
- Take blood-thinning medication
- Have a fever, an infection, or a skin condition in the area to be treated
Tell your therapist about any of these during your consultation. They will adapt the session or advise you to wait until you have medical clearance.

Thai Massage in Dubai: Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp and we will reply straight away.
How much does a Thai massage cost in Dubai?
On major booking platforms, Thai massage prices across Dubai range from about AED 220 to AED 750, depending on the provider, the therapist’s training, and the session length. Our home and hotel service costs AED 472.50 for 60 minutes, AED 630 for 90 minutes, and AED 735 for 120 minutes, including VAT and travel.
How quickly can a therapist reach me?
Usually within 30 to 45 minutes of your booking being confirmed. Exact timing depends on traffic and your location, and we tell you the estimated arrival time on WhatsApp. If you need a specific time, book ahead and your therapist will arrive as scheduled.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Travel is included in every price, whether you are in Dubai Marina, Mirdif or anywhere in between. There are no call-out fees and no late-night surcharges, so a 60-minute session always costs AED 472.50 including VAT.
Do you come to hotels?
Yes. We come to hotel rooms across Dubai, which makes a Thai massage an easy way to recover after a long-haul flight. Include your hotel name and room number in your WhatsApp message, as some hotels require visitors to sign in at reception.
Do I need my own massage table?
No. Your therapist brings a foldable massage table or a traditional floor mat, whichever you prefer, along with fresh towels and linens. All you need is a clear space of about 2 by 3 metres.
What should I wear for a Thai massage?
Choose clothing you can stretch in easily: gym wear, yoga wear or pyjama-style trousers all work well. Remove jewellery, and avoid jeans or anything tight. Because no oil is used, you stay fully clothed throughout.
Is Thai massage painful?
It uses firm pressure and deep stretches, so you will feel it working, but it should never be painful. Your therapist works within your comfort level and changes the pressure the moment you ask.
Does traditional Thai massage use oil?
No. It is a dry massage performed over clothing, using acupressure, compression, and assisted stretching instead. That also means no oily residue on your skin or on your furniture.
How long should my first Thai massage be?
For a first session, 60 or 90 minutes is ideal. Sixty minutes covers the full body, while 90 minutes allows a slower pace and extra time on the areas where you hold the most tension.
How often should I get a Thai massage?
It depends on your goal. For general wellbeing, many people book once or twice a month. If you are working on persistent stiffness, weekly sessions for a few weeks can help, and your therapist can suggest a routine that suits you.
Are your therapists licensed in Dubai?
Yes. All of our therapists are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and each one is trained at Wat Pho or its affiliated Chetawan schools in Thailand. The business itself holds a Dubai mainland trade licence, and you can check every therapist’s credentials on our Therapists page.
Are you really available 24 hours?
Yes. We take bookings and send therapists 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and late nights. For a specific time slot, booking ahead is the best way to secure it.
Do you offer Thai massage for men and women?
Yes. We serve both men and women across Dubai, in line with Dubai’s licensing and health requirements for massage services. Send us a WhatsApp message with your preferred time, and we will arrange your therapist and confirm your booking.
Who should not get a Thai massage?
Speak to your doctor before booking if you are pregnant or have had recent surgery or injury. The same applies if you have osteoporosis, a heart condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, a history of blood clots or a spinal disc problem. Tell your therapist about any health condition during your consultation.
